BAIC Motor benefits from its globalized production layout. In China, BAIC Motor has several modern automobile production bases, including production plants in Beijing and Zhuzhou, which are equipped with advanced production facilities and intelligent management systems. Taking BAIC Zhuzhou No.2 Factory as an example, the factory takes green, quality and intelligence as the core of its strategy, and has four major process workshops for automobile stamping, welding, painting and general assembly. The plant adopts the same level of stamping technology and standards as Beijing Benz, ensuring the consistency and stability of the quality of vehicle components. The welding workshop of the factory adopts the world’s most advanced German kuka robots, which fully realizes the high automatic conversion rate of production, and the automated production line and strict testing standards ensure that every vehicle produced meets the requirements of high-end quality. During the production process, 100% data traceability of key torque points can be realized, and the accuracy can reach ±0.5N-m. In 2018, BAIC Automotive put into production and built the largest automobile production base of Chinese enterprises in Africa in South Africa, with more than 60% of vehicle parts and components locally procured, and the products produced can radiate to more than 20 countries and regions in Africa.
BAIC has a strong R&D team focusing on the development of its EREV models, and BAIC has established a model of “global R&D + localized production”. In China, BAIC Automotive has set up three major R&D centers in Beijing, Shanghai and Chongqing, with national-level key laboratories and more than 20,000 patents of its own.In 2015, BAIC set up an R&D center in Silicon Valley, and jointly researched and developed battery materials and intelligent driving with UNXuan Hi-Tech, East China Automotive Electricity and other excellent enterprises. BJ60 EREV is a hardcore new-energy off-road SUV under BAIC Automobile, and its front face adopts a closed grille design, which creates a concise and technological visual effect with the interplay of LED headlights. The off-road performance of the vehicle is also reflected in the fact that the vehicle is equipped with all-terrain R20 AT tires, with excellent off-road capability.
