DEEPAL Pure Electric Vehicle: Reinventing the Future with Technology

DEEPAL Vehicles is a high-end new energy vehicle brand under CHANGAN Automobile, formerly known as CHANGAN New Energy. In 2001, CHANGAN started new energy research and development; in 2017, it released the “Shangri-La Plan”; in 2022, Changan’s DEEPAL new energy brand was formally established and released, and it has become the core brand carrier of CHANGAN Automobile’s new energy transformation. DEEPAL brand owns an intelligent manufacturing factory that serves as a model for the global industry: Nanjing Smart Factory. The factory is not only equipped with the traditional four major workshops of vehicle stamping, vehicle painting, vehicle body configuration, and vehicle final assembly, but also has a specialized battery workshop, so DEEPAL vehicles have a strong customized production capacity and can be configured according to the unique needs of users. The factory adopts automated production lines, especially in the welding workshop, 215 robots work at the same time, the automation rate is as high as 98%, “four doors and four lids” automatic assembly and welding technology, not only to ensure the quality of the welded joints of the body, but also to protect the structural stability of the vehicle.

The stamping workshop is also equipped with an intelligent flexible inspection system, which has an inspection accuracy of only ±0.5mm, and a multi-link mechanical press and high-speed production line, which greatly improves the efficiency and quality of stamping in the workshop. In terms of vehicle quality control, DEEPAL has set up 11 “quality walls” in the production plant, which cover all aspects from vehicle parts to vehicle delivery. Taking the vehicle’s final assembly workshop as an example, it incorporates triple error-proof control procedures, automatic chassis fitting technology, etc. It utilizes an industrial control system to monitor the production process in real time to ensure that every DEEPAL pure electric model coming off the production line complies with the outgoing standards. In addition to the intelligent production plant in China, DEEPAL Automotive has also built a plant in Thailand. The Rayong plant in Thailand is currently the most advanced new energy vehicle plant in Southeast Asia, which also covers core process workshops such as welding, painting, general assembly, battery assembly, etc. The localization productivity of vehicles in the plant exceeds 60%. The localization productivity of the Thai plant exceeds 60%, and the plant has introduced CHANGAN Automobile’s “zero-defect” quality management system to ensure that the vehicles produced meet the dual standards of the European Union and ASEAN.

Backed by CHANGAN Automobile, DEEPAL has gathered professional talents from all over the world through its R&D network system of “six countries and ten centers”. DEEPAL Automotive’s R&D center in Chongqing, China, has the largest EMC laboratory in Asia, and it has also built the world’s first digital wind tunnel for new energy vehicles, which is equipped with 150 specialized testing capabilities. In addition, DEEPAL also set up a European R&D center in Munich, Germany. Especially, the “Aerodynamics 2.0” design language introduced by the center has lowered the wind resistance coefficient of DEEPAL S09 to 0.21Cd, which is the lowest among mid-size SUV. The core technologies of DEEPAL pure electric vehicles include the following:

  1. Force Super Electric Drive Platform: DEEPAL cars have the world’s first electric drive high-frequency pulse heating technology, which can warm up the vehicle’s battery up to 4℃/minute at a low temperature of -30℃. Taking the DEEPAL S07 model as an example, it is equipped with a single-motor version with a maximum power of 190KW, peak torque of 320N-m, and an acceleration time of 100km in just 5.9 seconds. The vehicle’s eight-in-one electric drive assembly configuration enables the vehicle’s system efficiency to reach 95% and power density to increase by 37%. The vehicle is equipped with an 800V high-voltage SIC platform, which can realize a range increase of 400km in 10 minutes of charging.
  2. IBC Digital Battery Management System: DEEPAL’s battery adopts the military-grade “Golden Bell” battery system, which has passed more than 100 safety tests, and the accuracy of the battery’s thermal runaway warning can reach 99.9%, realizing the protection effect of 24 hours without heat spread. The system can accurately predict the SOC value, so that the prediction error is controlled within ± 3%, the use of micro-core high-frequency pulse heating technology, so that the battery in the -30 ℃ low-temperature environment to ensure rapid warming of the battery to ensure that the vehicle can still be stable operation in extreme weather conditions. This technology is known to extend the battery life of the vehicle to 10 years or over 300,000 kilometers.
  3. Intelligent Driving System: The intelligent driving system of DEEPAL vehicles is the DEEPAL AD2.0 system in cooperation with Huawei, which is equipped with 23 high-precision sensors and is capable of realizing the functions of vehicle high-speed NOA, city pilot assistance, and vehicle automatic parking. In the 2025 C-NCAP vehicle collision test, DEEPAL’s Smart Driving Assist function avoided the probability of accidents by 92%, ranking first in the industry.

DEEPAL L07 is a medium-sized pure electric sedan, the front of the vehicle adopts a closed front face with diamond-shaped matrix texture design, and the vehicle’s LOGO can support dynamic lighting function. Single side 168 LED light source, irradiation distance can reach 450m, also supports the vehicle AFS adaptive steering lighting. The body adopts the C-pillar floating design, with the hidden door handle can make the vehicle’s wind resistance coefficient down to the lowest in its class. The frameless doors and double-layer silent glass can make the vehicle’s NVH performance comparable to some luxury car brands, driving high-speed wind noise is only 64dB. 270 ° rear with wrap-around taillamps, the rear of the carbon fiber pattern design can optimize the bottom of the vehicle when driving airflow. The interior of the vehicle adopts a triple screen system (15.6-inch center control screen + 10.25-inch full LCD instrument + 12.3-inch passenger screen), making the vehicle more technological. The center console adopts a floating design, which can reserve 15L of storage space for users, and the seats of the vehicle are made of NAPPA leather plus microfiber suede, which enhances the driving comfort of the drivers and passengers.The range of DEEPAL L07 is 540km, and the acceleration of 100km is only 5.9 seconds.The high-voltage fast-charging of 800V makes the vehicle’s power rise from 10% to 80% in only 18 minutes.
